RAWSoc AGM!

Postby Jack_O_Diamonds » Mon 10 May, 2010 2:38 pm

WHAT: Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) to discuss how to run the society next year.
WHERE: The Students' Union, Gareth Edwards room (top floor).
WHEN: Monday, 31st of May. Meeting starts officially at 7:30pm, aim to arrive at 7:15pm.
WHO: New and old society exec members will be there, all other current or prospective members of RAWSoc are *fully* encouraged to attend.
WHY: To discuss society issues and the coming academic year, to raise questions, comments and ideas for how to promote and run the society, what events to have and what you want to see in RAWSoc.

Please, please do come along if you want to say anything about the running of YOUR society next year. Alternatively, if you can't make it, please either send your comments and/or questions to president@rawsoc.co.uk, see Kieran at the pub or post in this thread.

The agenda for discussion is being worked on as I write, but currently it looks like we will be discussing:

Freshers: grabbing and retaining (including the Freshers' Fayre and the Meet & Greet)
Society promotion to new members, other societies, FLGSs, etc.
The budget (using the remainder and applying for next year)
The library (vetting old stuff and buying new stuff)
    Wargames (terrain, library, etc.)
    Events
    RAWSoc awards
    Nationals
    Membership
Life Members (including maintaining a decent, up-to-date list)
Society logo, motto and 'theme'/'branding' (organisation a logo competition, etc.)
    Magazine/blog
Website changes (past events page/gallery, history page)
    LARP
    GM workshops
    Pub meet
    Elections and voting system
    Blackjack and hookers/strippers and blow/etc.

This list will be updated and re-organised as we get more information. Watch this space.

If you're on Facebook, let us know that you're intending to come - if you've not been invited, be sure to "Like" our FB Page and let us know.

Wow you lot stopped the tradition of promising (and failing to deliver) Strippers and Blow. Probably a good thing.

Blackjack and hookers were definately one of Liannes promises at the election. Definately.

Or possibly our demands...

I love how discussing our AGM has just turned into talk about hookers :)

In an effort to keep this on topic, are you suggesting we add them to the agenda? I'm not sure our budget will stretch that far...

And to anticipate someone's response: that is what she said.

a) the AGM always turns into a demand for strippers and b) It has been on the Agenda for over a decade. Normally under old business.

Never heard of it. But I did promise boobs in my manifesto. Not only do I apparently own a pair (of BOOBS, people, shut up) but I am very seriously planning to go to a strip club for my birthday this year. So yeah, strippers.

Updated the agenda.

OK, let's add the GM Workshops idea to the agenda. I'll elaborate on the concept and some of the workshop themes and principles on the evening.

Oh, and can I make a request that we have some copies of the agenda printed out for people to look at during the meeting. This helps immensely to keep things focussed because people know what's going to be discussed and can leave tangential talking points for the relevant item on the agenda.
